Did you ever end up getting a chance to meet Damian’s family? They’re just as free spirited, just as open, just as opinionated as I am, so I don’t think they were surprised at all when I told them that I was doing this. They really liked how they saw me with Damian, they read vibes just like I do, so they liked his energy, they were really just supportive BBWDatefinder and they still are to this day, which is amazing. And I am so overwhelmed and joyous and grateful. It’s really humbling, I really never thought that people would take to me. I always felt misunderstood and not heard growing up, so the fact that people are listening, are enjoying the relationship between me and Damian, it’s refreshing.

Luckily, there’s no shortage of dating shows that feature scheming singles, love triangles and squares, and beautiful people tearfully trying to find their person. From Love Is Blind’s international spinoffs to gems from the early aughts to lots and lots of Love Island, here’s everything to watch next. It is a proved approach to making undeniably gripping television, but it is as cooked-up and massaged as any other reality show.
The series’ producers and creators didn’t expect “Love Is Blind” to have so much success with the couples. In fact, more couples got engaged than were able to be featured. The original “Love Is Blind” cast started with around 40 to 50 contestants, Coelen told E! So how did contestants end up in a pod with the person they’d like to see? However, Pike revealed during the finale that she hadn’t spoken to Barnett since he admitted to having cold feet the night prior, which left Pike worrying he’d reject her at the altar.
You guys are so similar.” I thought they were just saying that. It’s really easy when you just have to be the one who listens. They do your hair and makeup, which makes you feel like a movie star.
Love Is Blind’s Damian Powers and Giannina Gibelli’s Ups and Downs
The VH1 classic followed Flavor Flav’s search for love , and Pollard’s spinoff, I Love New York, aimed to help her find the one . Cast member Lauren Speed told Oprah magazine in 2020 that her experience on the show created a sort of “sisterhood” between her and her fellow castmates. Some of the contestants compared the experience of being on the show to living in a fraternity or a sorority. During the experimental pod part of the show, the contestants weren’t exactly sleeping in luxurious quarters. Coelen said that contestants could eat dinner, play games, paint, or whatever other activities they thought would make their date more personal. However, Coelen confirmed that the lengths of the dates varied based on how far into the process the contestants were.
They’ve tried everything and see the pods as their only hope. “I stand by everything I said,” Zanab later told ET. “Everything I said had a meaning, a reason why I said it. I didn’t do it to humiliate him. It was more so just to be factual and hope that he would be a changed man for his next healthy relationship that I hope he has.” Making things even more awkward is that Francesca and Damian briefly reunited on Perfect Match, but ultimately it didn’t work out between them either. Francesca is now dating TikTok star Jesse Sullivan, and it doesn’t look like Damian is dating anyone right now, at least not publicly. According to his LinkedIn page, Kwame graduated from Goldey-Beacom College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2015.
As for Gibelli, she gained recognition for appearing on Love Is Blind in 2020. She met and fell in love with contestant Damian Powers, to whom she got engaged. Reality rarely makes for can’t-miss entertainment — so the “reality” of your favorite famous reality TV momentsare oftentimes manipulated or staged by producers to keep you coming back for more. However, according to Netflix’s Love Is Blind creator and executive producer Chris Coelen, producers largely stayed out of the way of the contestants while they were making their initial connections within the pods. Danielle Drouin and Rory Newbrough were one of the engaged couples left behind, according to People, as were Lexie Skipper and Westley Baer. Unfortunately, both engagements ended soon after the couples were let go from the show.
As I stood there waiting for Hema, my main concern was not wanting to drink too quickly. Before the show the producers explained how carefully they try to match participants. So when Hema walked in and I saw she was Asian, I thought, very sophisticated algorithm! We ended up being the last people in the restaurant. We were oblivious to the fact that everyone else had left. Fter a half-century of dating shows, the genre has grown increasingly outlandish.
“We slept in trailers and they were correctional-facility beds. The design was to just strip us down from our comfort level,” one of the season-one contestants, Kenny Barnes, told Refinery29 in 2020. Coelen went on to say that eight couples actually got engaged on season one but only six were featured on the series. Only six engaged couples were featured on season one. “It became evident as the process went on, from that big group of people, that there were some people that more people were gravitating towards than others,” Coelen told E! “There was a certain point where we did a whittling down of people just to focus internally on the people who were really connecting, to allow them more time.” Carlton Morton didn’t make it to the season finale of Netflix’sLove Is Blind, but the contestant made plenty of waves throughout his time on the hit Netflix reality show.
During their 10 days in “The Pods”, the couples decide if they wanted to get engaged—still sight unseen—or end their relationships for a better connection with someone else. After the proposal, the couples meet face-to-face for the first time and go on a honeymoon, where they learn more about each other and meet the other couples. After the trip, the couples, who all live in the same city, return to the real world and move into an apartment together as they meet each other’s families and friends and prepare for their weddings. At the altar on their wedding days, the couples must decide whether to marry or breakup as they answer the age-old question of if love can be truly blind.
